People paying regularly for monthly coupons could get some money back. In doing so, Prague wants to help its lower-income residents.

The price of the coupon would stay the same - 550 crowns. After buying it for twelve consecutive months, passengers would receive a refund of three to four months.

This would reduce the price difference compared to the price of an annual pass, which now costs 3,650 crowns - that is 3,000 crowns less than twelve monthly coupons. The change should benefit people who cannot afford to buy an annual pass.

There are also talks about other changes in the public transport fares. Prague has previously announced an intention to raise the price of an annual coupon - at first by 50%. The proposal now is to increase the price by 365 crowns each year for several years.
