Due to the pandemic, Czech industry fell by 2.6% in February, following January's growth of 0.3%. Important branches of the manufacturing industry recorded worse results. The production of cars dropped by 8% y-o-y, the production of electrical equipment by 4.2% and the production of non-metallic mineral products by 8.8%. On the other hand, producers of pharmaceuticals and energy were better off than last February. However, industrial companies managed to secure more new orders than last year.

Production in the construction sector dropped by 11% y-o-y. This has been the most significant decline since July 2016. It was caused mainly by a decrease of 13.8% in building construction. On the other hand, the production in civil engineering, which includes, for example, road and railways construction, increased slightly y-o-y - by 0.8%.
