Starting Saturday, Czechs can no longer travel freely to Slovenia due to the rising number of Covid cases in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

When entering Slovenia, Czechs will have to show a negative COVID-19 test no older than 36 hours and a proof of paid accommodation - or go into quarantine. Transit through the country will still be possible without restrictions.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček (ČSSD) protested against the demotion of Czechia to the yellow list but were unsuccessful. However, Slovenia promised that the country would return to the green list when the number of new infections drops below 10 per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (independent/ANO), Slovenia's evaluation of Czechia's epidemiological situation is not objective as the current outbreak is localized to the Karviná district and is under control.
