Orange plastic net now wraps around the summit of the highest mountain in Czechia as a protection against careless visitors.

The administration of the Krkonoše National Park installed the one-metre high barrier to prevent people from stepping on protected alpine meadows and rocks. In summer, compliance with the rules will be monitored by the police who can impose a fine of up to 10,000 Czech crowns.
At 1,603.3 metres, Sněžka's summit is the highest point in the Czech republic. It is also one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Krkonoše Mountains. On average, five thousand people visit the peak daily. On sunny weekends, the number doubles.
