Covid update

There were 5,864 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic on Thursday, which is about 1,200 more than the last week. For several days now, the reproductive number has been rising, the number indicates the average number of other people who become infected from one who tested positive. Its value is now 1.16. The index of the anti-epidemic system PES remains at 64 points. The sixth day is thus above the limit of the fourth alert degree. Vaccination could start at the end of February

The first Covid-19 vaccine for use in the European Union could be approved on 29th of December, the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO) said on Thursday. According to Blatný, vaccination could then start within six to eight weeks after the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approves the vaccine. Many Czech hospitals have not yet started preparing for coronavirus vaccination. According to their representatives, they lack detailed instructions from the state. The lack of information is also pointed out by general practitioners.

Brussels EU Summit

At the Brussels summit on Thursday, the Presidents and Prime ministers of the European Union countries broke the stalemate over the future seven-year budget and the coronavirus crisis fund, the approval of which had so far been blocked by Hungary and Poland. The Heads of State and Government have agreed on rules under which the drawing of EU money will be conditional on respect for the independence of the judiciary. A spokesman for the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, informed about it. From next year, the budget and the associated fund with a total value of over 1.8 trillion euros will be available to all 27 Member States.

Adolf Loos exhibition

On the day of the 150th anniversary of Adolf Loose's birth, the National Technical Museum opened an exhibition dedicated to this important architect. Most of his work can be found especially in Vienna but the exhibition called "Adolf Loos - a world citizen" focuses on his Czech footprint. It monitors it through three-dimensional models, photographs and audiovisual elements.
