Covid update

On Sunday, there were 1,999 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Czech Republic. The PES risk score remains at 71 points on Monday, in the fourth degree. There are five regions in the fifth degree, only Prague is in the third. The reproduction number remains at 1.2.

Today, the government will discuss the proposal of the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO) that the Czech Republic may return from the third to the fourth degree of the anti-epidemic PES system. This would tighten measures again. However, stores should remain open, according to the government members. Ministers should also discuss that the planned voluntary antigen testing for Covid-19 will start on Wednesday instead of Friday due to the great interest of people.

By October, almost 14,000 people had joined the Czech Republic. Immigrants are behind the growth

The Czech Republic has over 10.7 million inhabitants. In the first nine months of this year, this number had increased by 13,900. The increase was almost 60 percent lower compared to the last year. More people in the Czech Republic died than they were born in the first three quarters, so the increase in population was due to immigrants from abroad, according to data from the Czech Statistical Office (CSO).

Opinion polls: ANO less dominant than before

According to the election model of the Kantar CZ agency, ANO would win the elections with the support of 25 percent, but the party has lost 2.5 percentage points compared to October. The other Pirates lost one percentage point to 20 percent, while the third ODS gained one percentage point to 11.5 percent. Mayors and Independents (STAN) and the SPD movement would gain 10.5 percent. In the November model, it reached TOP 09 at the required 5% threshold. The election model was published by Czech Television (ČT).
