Covid update

The risk index of the anti-epidemic system PES, which governs measures against the spread of Covid-19, today fell slightly to 84 points per hundred. The previous two days it was at 87 points. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health. The reason for the decrease in the index is the decrease in the so-called reproductive number, which indicates the average number of other infected people from one positive test, from about 1.22 to 1.18. The PES remains at the highest, fifth level of alert.

There were new 4,283 positive cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, which was the lowest since the New Year, but at the same time the total number of tests performed was also the lowest for the same period. There are still over 7,000 people infected with Covid-19 in hospitals, and some hospitals are overcrowded. The Cheb hospital had some of its patients taken elsewhere.

Protests in Prague

Several thousand people protested on Sunday in the Old Town Square in Prague against government measures related to the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to representatives of businessmen, artists, doctors and students, former President Václav Klaus, who refuses compulsory vaccination against covid-19, also gave a speech. Many protesters did not have veils and the participants did not follow distancing. The police described the assembly as peaceful, and reported the violations of the measures to the administrative body. According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), participants should go and volunteer in hospitals to see the situation there.
