The richest Czech dies in helicopter accident


During the trip for adrenaline skiing, the richest Czech, Petr Kellner, died in a helicopter accident in Alaska, The New York Times reported. The report was confirmed on Monday by the PPF group, which is a company led by Kellner. Four other people did not survive the fall of the machine. The tragic event happened on Saturday.


Almost two million people have filled the census forms



The Czech Statistical Office has so far received over 900,000 electronic forms in the census. About 1.9 million people have counted online so far. The system works smoothly without any problems. The chairman of the office, Marek Rojíček, told ČTK today. The census started on Saturday. Due to problems, the office had to shut down the electronic forms for half a day.


The census will last until the 11th of May. Originally, people were supposed to have two weeks to fill out the electronic forms by April the 9th. The Czech Statistical Office announced on Sunday that it was extending the term until the end of the census.


May Liberation celebrations will be held virtually again


Pilsen will once again move the traditional Freedom Celebrations to the online environment due to coronavirus. The celebrations of the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the city by the US Army will take place at the beginning of May. Reports, interviews, the transmission of a memorial act or musical inputs will be broadcast from the studio in Měšťanská beseda. The city prepared spectacular celebrations for last year's 75th anniversary. However, due to the pandemic, they had to cancel them and instead offer an online broadcast that was watched by 45,000 people.


Ukliďme Česko (Clean up Czechia) - 50,000 volunteers participated



The Clean Up Czechia event, which took place on the weekend of March 27th and 28th, was attended by an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 volunteers. This year, the organization of the event was influenced by measures against the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, it was not organized in groups, but individually. Individuals or families cleaned up the mess in about a thousand places in the country.
