Czechia has already ordered Covid-19 vaccines for 11 million people. Orders from Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech have been increased.

A total number of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines that should arrive to the Czech Republic has tripled - they should be enough for six million inhabitants. According to vaccination coordinator Kateřina Baťhová, the company delivered 323,000 doses in January and 335,000 more are expected to arrive in February, 500,000 in March and 4.5 million in the second quarter.

The reason why most vaccines that have been ordered from Pfizer is that it was the first vaccine approved and the first to allow an increase in orders, Baťhová said. Czechia also ordered doses from Moderna, AstraZeneca, CureVac, Johnson&Johnson, Sanofi and Valneva.

So far, 295,000 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. In the future, vaccination centres should be able to administer up to 60,000 jabs daily, according to the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO). Another 50,000 per day could be done by general practitioners. However, enough vaccines need to be delivered first - Blatný estimates this could be in April or more probably May.
