New health minister

After accepting Roman Prymula's (for ANO) rezignation, President Miloš Zeman appointed Jan Blatný (for ANO) as the Minister of Health.

Blatný is a pediatric hematologist with international experience. He previously served as deputy head of Brno University Hospital.

He replaces Roman Prymula who served for only 38 days. Last week, Prymula got caught by reporters of the tabloid Blesk violating his own anti-coronavirus measures. We wrote about it here.

According to Blatný, it will not be necessary to tighten the existing anti-covid measures significantly. One of the first things he wants to discuss is the possible reopening of schools that was supposed to happen on Monday but got postponed due to the current epidemiological situation.

Blatný also wants to focus on communication with the public and changing the mood in society. Fear of the virus that paralyzes and divides people needs to turn into respect, he said.

In recent days, several fake social media accounts with his name appeared, one of them on Twitter got a lot of attention after tweeting about reserving lifts only for the elderly or turning off street lights to help enforce the overnight curfew.
