Czechia has recorded a new highest number of infected people in one day - on Wednesday, tests revealed 650 infected people which was the first time it exceeded six hundred.

The current maximum from the previous first day of September was 504. In South Moravia, there were more cases of infected people in two days than in the whole month of May. The Czech Republic currently has the highest rate of coronavirus infections compared to neighbouring countries. In Germany and Slovakia, the daily increase per million inhabitants was about a third last week.
Due to the growing number of new cases, the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (ANO) thinks that it will probably be necessary to take further measures, especially in Prague. According to Vojtěch, one of the options is an extension of the places where it will be necessary to wear masks. The minister himself is in domestic quarantine due to the infection of the chief hygienist Jarmila Rážová. However, Wednesday's test for COVID was negative for Vojtěch.
