The government decided to impose tighter anti-covid restrictions that will come into effect on Wednesday, October 28.

Free movement will be further restricted between 9 pm and 5 am. People will only be allowed to leave their house for work and essential health, care or safety reasons. Walking a dog will only be permitted within 500 metres from home. According to the Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for ANO), people may have to prove to the authorities why they left home - even retrospectively.

Also starting October 28, shops will only stay open until 8 pm and they will have to remain completely closed on Sundays. There are a few exceptions: gas stations, pharmacies, shops at train stations and medical facilities. (This Wednesday is a public holiday, so the shops will be closed too.)

The government also ordered people to work from home if possible. However, according to Czech law, employees are not legally entitled to work from home, and the employer cannot order this unilaterally. Both parties must reach a written agreement, or this option has to be stated in the employment contract.
