Possible loosening of measures in a month

Depending on the number of hospitalizations, it might be possible to loosen the strictest anti-epidemic measures at the end of April.

According to the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO), the Ministry wants to first achieve a goal of around 3,000 people in hospitals, of which about 500 in the ICUs. This might happen at the end of the next month.

Blatný wants the return of children to schools be among the first changes. To keep the current restrictions in place, the government decided to ask the Chamber of Deputies for another 30-day extension of the state of emergency. It now applies until March 28.

The cabinet wants to maintain the ban on intra-district travel - at least until after Easter. In addition to checking compliance with this measure, police officers will now be given a new task - checking on people in quarantine or isolation.

The hygienists will share the lists of quarantined people with the police. Those who will not be found at home will be handed over to the administrative proceedings. As for sick people caught outside, the Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček (ČSSD) stressed that spreading a contagious disease is a criminal offense.
