Due to June downpours, the south of the country is at risk of mosquito overpopulation.

Rainfall in June has been the highest for that month since 1961. According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), it rained 151 liters per square meter - almost twice the long-term average.

Because of the strong rainfall, some regions expect a higher incidence of mosquitoes. For example, in the South Bohemian Region, the conditions for the reproduction of this insect are the best in the last five years.

Several areas in southern Moravia are also at risk of mosquito overpopulation, which hasn't happened there since 2014 due to drought.
