Cheaper food and drugstore products - Czechs are coming back to what they used to do before the COVID crisis and traveling abroad for less expensive products. In the past few weeks, ir has been particularly Germany where Czechs have traveled most for shopping.

The German Government decreased VAT at the beginning of July, with food items seeing a two percent cut. Czechs can now buy cheaper food and drugstore products. However, not all products are cheaper in Germany. For example: cigarettes and fuel are cheaper in Czechia.

The German measure of decreasing taxes is part of a program that is supposed to refresh the economy. The Czech Government, however, does not plan on following this lead. According to the Ministry of Finance, it would be only big foodchains that would profit from such a measure.
