In addition to Easter Monday, the government decided to close all stores on Good Friday too - in order to slow down the epidemic.

Usually, stores with an area of over 200 square metres have to remain closed on Easter Monday. This year, only petrol stations, pharmacies and shops at airports or railway stations will be allowed to open on both Easter holidays.

The Czech Confederation of Trade and Tourism (SOČR) does not agree with this measure. Its president Tomáš Prouza said that the ban on sales on Good Friday was meaningless and would only lead to a greater concentration of people in shops on Thursday and Saturday.

The Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Toman (ČSSD) brought to the government's meeting the question of allowing farmers markets to begin operation. However, according to the Minister of Finance Alena Schillerová (for ANO), the Health Ministry rejected this proposal without the cabinet voting on the topic.
