Slavia football club denies racism allegations

Slavia footballer Ondřej Kúdela denied accusations of alleged racist insult to Glasgow Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara at the end of the winning game of the European League. The Prague defender was attacked and beaten by the home midfielder on the way to the changing rooms after a 2-0 victory, according to Slavia in the presence of the Rangers coach Steven Gerrard. The Czech club then called the police, who evacuated the expedition from the stadium to the hotel. The incident should be dealt with by UEFA.

The end of the match, in which the Rangers played without the two eliminated players Kemar Roofe and Leon Balogun, was very emotional. After one of their interventions, Kúdela ran to Kamara. He said something to a Finnish dark-skinned player, provoking a push. Coach Gerrard then accused the Slavic stopper of racism at a press conference.

"I have a very strong relationship with Glen, I trust him 100%. The other players around me have heard it too. I'm upset now. Sometimes things happen during my career that are more important than football itself. It happened today. Now it's UEFA. I hope that you will not sweep it under the rug," said Gerrard, a former captain of the English national team, to the Scottish media.

Although the Slavist defender admitted that he had uttered vulgarity towards his opponent, he strongly denied that it was anything racist.

"I told him: You are fu..ing guy. It was simply said in the emotions after the two red cards and a few brutal interventions by the opponent. But I completely reject racism," Kúdela said in a recording for the club's media.

"Slavia resolutely rejects the disgusting and imaginary accusation of one of its captains," Ondřej Kúdela said, of racist behavior."We condemn racism in any form," Slavia said on the club's website.
