Strictest measures might end after March 21

The epidemic situation in the Czech Republic is showing signs of stabilizing - so the newest restrictions might end after three weeks.

According to the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO), the daily numbers of newly infected have stopped escalating and are beginning to stabilize. On Thursday, laboratories in the country confirmed 14,554 new coronavirus cases. It's less than on Tuesday and Wednesday - and almost the same number as a week ago.

Because of this, the current strictest measures - such as a ban on inter-district travel - could be lifted after March 21, Blatný assumes. However, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said on Thursday that people should not expect a significant relaxation of anti-epidemic restrictions. Blatný confirmed this - according to him, lifting the lockdown any further might only be possible when there is less than 3,000 hospitalized Covid-19 patients. Right now, there are about 8,000.
