Czech researchers have successfully completed the first phase of vaccine development against the new type of coronavirus. Currently there are teams working on about 120 vaccines worldwide.

The prototype of the Czech COVID-19 vaccine went through the first phase. According tothe experts, the prototype tested on rodents is safe and provoked the desired immune reaction. According to the leader of the team working on the vaccine development Petr Lesný, the preparation cannot be used for general population. It is an emergent type of vaccine.
The Ministry of Health announced the start of the development of the COVID-19 vaccine in early May this year. For now, it is not the final substance but the prototype is ready for a possible development. The next step will be for the Minister of Health to get acquainted with the conclusions of the first phase of the research, then they will be submitted for assessment to experts from the professional society.
SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are currently being developed and tested in many countries, including India, the United Kingdom, Russia and China. According to The New York Times, that updates so called Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker daily, ten vaccines are already in the last phase of clinical trials. Thousands of people have already tested the product at this stage. From such a large sample, e.g. it can be determined whether the vaccine does not have some side effects that did not appear when tested on a smaller number of people.
