The number of traffic accident fatalities is the same as last year - despite coronavirus lockdown

A total of 217 people have died on Czech roads this year to date. During the coronacrisis, traffic intensity fell by about 50%.

While the exact causes of these statistics are not yet clear, they are likely to be linked to speeding on empty roads.

The Ministry of Transport says that because more people will spend summer holidays in Czechia this year, busier traffic can be expected. Therefore, it wants to focus on prevention and is preparing informational TV spots.
