Covid update


Tests on Wednesday revealed new 8,235 coronavirus-infected people. That's about three hundred more than on Tuesday, while the total number of tests fell. The number is increasing the fastest in Zlínský Region. Three regions are already at the level corresponding to the highest, fifth degree. In addition to Zlínský, which was already at 81 points in recent days, the Liberec and Moravian-Silesian Region were added. However, the PES score remained unchanged at 71, which corresponds to the fourth degree of the chart.

Further extension of the emergency state?


The government will request further extension of the state of emergency due to the Covid-19 epidemic for another 30 days. It would last until the 22nd of January. So far, the state of emergency in the Czech Republic has been valid from the 5th of October to the 23rd of December. The Chamber of Deputies will probably discuss the proposal on Tuesday.


The Prague City Council will discuss next year's budget



Today, Prague representatives will discuss the city's budget for next year and the railway route to Ruzyně Airport and Kladno. The program also includes the construction of a parallel runway at the airport, or a ban on cars entering reserved lanes for public transport even at night.


US Ambassador resigns



US Ambassador to the Czech Republic Stephen King will end. In an interview with Seznam News, he confirmed that he would leave office no later than on the 20th of January, when Joe Biden will enter the White House. King is the political nominee of President Donald Trump. The American embassy in the Czech Republic will be without an ambassador for months.
