Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive in April

Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive in the Czech Republic in April, up to 40,000 doses. Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO) reacted on the Tuesday's statement by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) that the vaccine from the American company will not be delivered to the Czech Republic next month. "There was a misunderstanding here yesterday (Tuesday) that the vaccine would not come to the Czech Republic in April. Fortunately, it was not confirmed. It will be about 30,000 to 40,000 doses of packaging in April," said Blatný.

Covid update

On Wednesday, there were 8,763 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Czech Republic. Compared to the same day last week, the increase was about a quarter lower. Since the pandemic began in March last year, 25,450 people have died with established coronavirus, of which about 18 percent this month. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health.

Rents on decrease

At the end of last year, housing rents in Prague and regional cities fell by an average of 3.3 percent to 237 crowns per square meter. It was especially due to the bigger number of offered apartments as many foreigners left the Czech Republic and AirBnB short-term rents basically stopped. Still, the most expensive rents were traditionally in Prague with 287 crowns, the cheapest was Ústí nad Labem with an average rent of 170 crowns per square meter.

Safari Park earned 10 million from private contributors

The financing of the Dvůr Králové nad Labem Safari Park in the Trutnov region is now significantly dependent on assistance from donors. The zoo has received over ten million crowns from about 30,000 small contributors since the weekend, which is enough for the zoo to cover the operation for the whole month of April. The zoo has been closed since last December due to government restrictions, and so far this year it has lost six million crowns in revenues. The safari park belongs to the Hradec Králové region and is the most visited tourist destination in Eastern Bohemia.
