People from prioritized groups - such as healthcare professionals and over 80s - should be vaccinated by March at the latest.

According to the current vaccination strategy, which was unveiled by the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for ANO), phase one of vaccinations in Czechia should be completed by March. It will include around 600,000 people - healthcare workers taking care of Covid-19 patients, seniors and staff in nursing homes and people over the age of 80.

Young people without any health problems can expect to get their jabs maybe at the turn of spring and summer - but more likely in summer. According to Blatný, the speed of vaccination will be primarily limited by deliveries - but the Czech Republic aims to vaccinate five million people by the end of summer.

The Minister also reiterated that the vaccination reservation system will be launched on January 15 for people over the age of 80 - and for others from February 1. People from non-priority groups will only get an appointment after those from priority groups interested in the vaccine get the jab.

On the reservation website, people will state their age, occupation and illnesses they suffer from that put them in the high-risk category - such as diabetes or high blood pressure. If they apply for preferential vaccinations, they will have to submit a certificate of employment or the last medical report from a doctor.

If people are unable to register online, a relative or a general practitioner can do it for them - or they can call the information line 1221.
