Starting today, people over the age of 55 can register for the Covid-19 vaccine - and it will be easier to get a haircut.

The Minister of Health Petr Arenberger (for ANO) announced that he had managed to enforce his original proposal regarding the mandatory testing when visiting hairdressers, pedicures and other such services. These services will be allowed to open on Monday, May 3. Originally, the government wanted only to admit tests done by a professional at a sampling point.

Now, the cabinet agreed that people can also use results from tests done at work or in schools. An antigen test will be valid for 72 hours, PCR for seven days. Testing will not be necessary for those who had Covid-19 in the last 90 days or those fully vaccinated (after a period of 14 days after the last dose).

At the same time, the Ministry said that allowing additional age groups to register for vaccination against Covid-19 did not significantly increase the number of people in the queue. Compared to mid-April, there are even about 44,000 fewer registered people who are currently waiting for their first dose of the vaccine.

Starting April 28, everyone over the age of 55 can register to get a jab. People who want to get vaccinated by their GP are often waiting longer than those registered at a vaccination center. According to the Health Minister, the deliveries of the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will soon significantly reduce these queues.
