COVID-19 update

New measures come into effect on Wednesday, October 14th. The measures affect schools, culture, sport and leisure activities. See the list of restrictions HERE.

More than 8,300 people were tested positive on Tuesday, October 13th. This was the second highest number within one day so far. Last Friday, October 9th, there were three hundred people more infected, and that was the highest number overall.

The number of people currently positive in total is getting close to 69,000. More than 2,500 people are in hospital, and over 450 of these people are in serious condition. More than 1,100 people died from coronavirus in Czechia in total.

Floods

The heavy rain caused that some of the rivers in Moravia and eastern Bohemia are on the third (the highest) level of flood activity. The water level also rose rapidly in Pardubický region. The rain might continue until Friday, October 16th.

Celebration in Prague Castle

There is a public holiday on October 28th. This day is the anniversary of Czechoslovakian establishment. Traditionally, people who did something significant for the Czech Republic, are awarded in Prague Castle.


After the meeting with the Prime Minister on Tuesday, October 13th, the President agreed that the ceremony will take place without the presence of the public and the politicians. The event is going to be organised after a consultation with the hygiene specialists.

Regional Prices for Architecture

The competition Patria Nostra awarded interesting architectural project in each of the Czech regions. One of the interesting projects that received the price is for example Vildštejn Castle in Karlovarský region, or the windmill in Kuželov, which is located in Jihomoravský region.


Government will select the head of the Antimonopoly Office

After the meeting with the President on Tuesday, Andrej Babiš (ANO) has announced that a new head of the Antimonopoly Office will be selected. The former head of the Office has resigned the last week, and he will leave his position on December 1st.
