People over 65 can register for vaccination

As of today, people between the ages of 65 and 69 can start registering for the Covid-19 vaccine on the Ministry of Health's website. According to the Minister of Health Petr Arenberger (for ANO), there are a total of about 670 thousand people of this age. However, he expects about 400,000 to be registered, as some may have registered earlier due to chronic diseases in which coronavirus infection may complicate their health.

Covid update

On Tuesday, there were 5,033 confirmed new cases of Covid-19 disease in the Czech Republic, 546 less than a week ago. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health. So far, more than three-quarters of a million people in the Czech Republic have completed vaccination against covid-19.

Sputnik vaccine offer

According to the new Minister of Health Petr Arenberger (for ANO), Russia's offer was to buy 300 thousand doses of Sputnik V immediately and another 150 thousand doses every month. The minister has no information that this few weeks old offer is no longer valid. Last week, Arenberger replaced Jan Blatný (for ANO) at the head of the office. President Milos Zeman criticized Blatný for refusing to vaccinate with this Russian vaccine, which has not yet been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), in the Czech Republic.

Police will not force compliance with the new restrictions

Police officers will not check compliance with the restrictions on meetings of a maximum of two people maintained by the government as a measure against the spread of coronavirus. The emergency measure of the Ministry of Health only covers mass events, the police said on Twitter.
