Men, women and children of a small village in Central Bohemia called Lidice were killed or transported to concentration camps by Nazis on June 10th 1942. The annihilation of the entire village was part of the revenge for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.

The night before, the whole village was surrounded by soldiers and no one was allowed to leave Lidice. The next day, men and boys over 15 years of age were killed, other people were transported to concentration camps, houses were burnt to the ground and the whole village disappeared.
Every year people gather to remember the victims of the Nazi terror. This year though, only officials were present at the ceremony because of the coronavirus crisis. President Miloš Zeman and Minister of Culture Lubomír Zaorálek were amongst the guests at the ceremony.
